LILONGWE-(MaraviPost)-The District Commissioner for Dedza Emanuel Bambe has commended and applauded St Louis High School for league Sponsorship in the district.
Bambe made the applause on Sunday at Bembeke Teachers Training College Demonstration ground when St Louis High School and Dedza District Football Committee launched the 2022/2023 MK3 million football season.
He said,the Sponsorship granted by St Louis High School is highly commendable by the District Council considering that the district put sports at heart hence emerged number one during Sports Council awards in Malawi.
“We really hail St Louis High School for coming up with this initiative as it will play a great role in Sports development in the district. They have increased the package from MK2 million to MK3 at district level which is commendable with the economic hardships,we are very grateful”,
“As Council we are going to engage extra gear to retain our superiority over other districts, the first thing is to continue organizing the sports codes from the grassroots, secondly is to upgrade Dedza Stadium to the satisfaction of the top governing body FAM/SULOM”, Bambe said.
The deputy teacher of St Louis High School, Estone Mtambalika said the sponsorship is one way of paying back to the community. He highlighted that after sponsoring the league with MK2 million last season they thought it wise to come back this year with Mk3 million package because as institution they were pleased with the way the committee patronized the league in their maiden year.
“The league has positively affected our enrollment at School as currently all classes are almost full.We are looking forward to having a free and fair season as it was last year”,Mtambalika said.
General Secretary for Dedza District Football Committee, Chikumbutso Babu, hailed the sponsors St Louis High School for committing themselves for another year saying it shows how good working relationship and trust has been their amongst them.
Babu vowed to patronize the league with zeal and in professional manner.
With the increment the 2022/2023 champion will walk home with MK700,000 from MK400,000 last year while second placed will pocket MK350,000 and third placed will get MK250,000.
The 2022 champions Lobi Young Soccer FC defeated Thete United FC 3-2 in the league’s opener at Bembeke demonstrations to kick start the season on a high note.
The league will be participated by 16 teams and is anticipated to run from December to May 2023 if all goes according to plans.
