CAPE TOWN-(MaraviPost)-Malawi Queens Goal Shooter, Mwawi Kumwenda has highlighted the need for the team to look for players who are tall so that they compete with the World’s greats in major tournaments.

Kumwenda said this after Malawi lost 70-46 to Australia despite putting up a gallant fight in the first half of the match. Kumwenda said Malawi players need to be physically fit in order to play with teams like Australia and New Zealand.

“We say we are fast but our fellow friends are more than fast but physically fit, they can train for hours without getting tired and they work for the physical fitness training for over three months but we just focus on the ball,” said Kumwenda.

The star further said Malawi needs to find some girls with good heights in order to compete with the top teams.

“Yes, it’s an assignment for the team, they need to find tall players you know it’s just me and Joyce,” added Mwawi.

So far, the Malawi Queens have played five games winning three and losing two.

The Queens return to the court today, Thursday, August 3, 2023 tomorrow against Tonga in the final preliminary stage 2.
