LILONGWE (MaraviPost)—Malawi president Peter Mutharika continues to recall diplomats whose tour of duty has ended, the latest being the recall of Malawi’s Deputy High Commissioner to UK John Tembo Junior, Maravi Post has learnt.According to our state house source, President Mutharika has since appointed former Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation spokesperson Quent Kalichero to replace Tembo.

John Tembo Junior was introduced to diplomatic duties under the tenure of former president Bakili Muluzi when he was dispatched to perform national duties at the Malawi Embassy in Brussels, Belgium. The youthful Tembo found his way to deputize the Malawi High Commissioner to UK courtesy of former Malawi President Joyce Banda.

“The recall of such men of valor as Tembo in UK and Major General Dr Reuben Ngwenya in Japan are normal recalls after an absolutely successful tour of duty. They are not in any way connected with issues of fraud, whatsoever, as is the case with some officials in Ethiopian Embassy,” a Ministry of Foreign Affairs senior official told Maravi Post on condition of anonymity.
