LILONGWE-(MaraviPost)-A brewery worker in Lilongwe has died after heavily drinking beer which he had stolen in the absence of his boss.
Deputy public relations officer for Lilongwe Foster Benjamin identified the deceased as Amin John, aged 27, met his fate on Wednesday, March 23, 2022 soon after taking the brew at his workplace in Chitipi.
“He was first assigned to clean the bottles since there was no production due to electricity blackout in the process, John’s boss went out, prompting him and colleagues to steal some bottles.
“He guzzled the beers until he started vomiting and opening bowels Immediately, John was rushed to Kamuzu Central Hospital where he died while receiving treatment” , Benjamin said.
He added that postmortem results indicated that he had died from alcoholic binge drinking.
The late John came from Kapyepye Village, Traditional Authority (T.A) Lundu in Blantyre.
