LUANAR’S Innocent Makawano has 27 league goals

LILONGWE-(MaraviPost)-LUANAR’s Sparkling and Superb performance in the Chipiku Premier division league in the second round continued on Sunday as they ambushed highly spirited Extreme FC 2-0 at Nsaru ground in Lilongwe.

The students registered their first win ever over the Mchinji based side who are the 2021 runners up in their six meetings.

The team scored both two goals in the first half through their prolific striker Innocent Makawano who scored a stunner and Michael Nyirenda.

LUANAR FC however had a chance to extend their lead as they got a penalty in the second half,but Innocent Makawano’s kick was bravely saved by Blessings Juma.Makawano has scored 27 goals since first round of the league.

The win has taken LUANAR FC on the summit of the group B with 11 points from the 5 games of the first set of round two,having won 3 games and drew 2.

Extreme FC are now second in the group with 9 points from the same number of games,they managed to win 3 and lost 2,the first loss was against Support Battalion FC 0-3.

However, soccer funs who came at Nsaru ground on Sunday left the place satisfied as the two sides produced great performance.

The host LUANAR dominated in the first half while the visitors came hard in the final half.

After the game Millias Pofera Jegwe LUANAR FC coach while speaking on tongue with shoulder high said he was happy with a win and to finish on top of the group B.

“They gave us a good run for our money but you saw in the second half,they also put much effort to equalize but it wasn’t their day,credit to the boys for the winning spirit”,Jegwe said.

While his counterpart Joseph Mlamba, Extreme FC Coach acknowledged the defeat but vowed the battle is not yet over.

“We came here to show people how Extreme FC plays. In our camp we have a very good squad capable of winning the title this season”, said Mlamba.

Other games in the group B,saw Support Battalion FC humiliating Kawinga FC 4-1 at Support to maintain position 3 with 8 points while Kawinga FC,Kamuzu Barracks RSV FC and Ngwanje FC are on positions 4,5 and 5 respectively differing on goals but tied on 5 points.

Group A weekend results, Airborne Rangers FC defeated the table leaders St Gabriel Medicals FC 2-0 courtesy of Prince Kachere’s brace at Airborne ground.

Villa FC unpleasant run in the league in the second round continued as they were hammered 0-3 at home by Mbabvi United FC.

Lengani Saidi,Sausten Essau and Austin Mvula scored for the farmers of Mbabvi.The Mchinji vendors Villa FC have finished the first set of games without a win,conceding 11 goals and managed to score 2.

Despite the loss Namitondo based side St Gabriel Medicals FC still lead group A with 10 points seconded by Silver Strikers RSV FC who have 9 points.

Mbabvi United FC sits on position 3 with 8 points.Wimbe United FC comes fourth with 8 points but falls in goal difference.

Airborne Rangers FC the Flying Lions are on position 5 with 7 points while Villa FC anchor the group with zero point.

The top three teams from the two groups A and B,will qualify to the final round of the league.

The six will be anticipated to play home and away to determine the champion.
