KARONGA-(MaraviPost)-Karonga United have opened a bold new chapter, unveiling Audro Makonyola as their new head coach on a one year performance based deal.
The announcement, confirmed on Wednesday by General Secretary Ramsey Simwaka, marks a significant shift for the elite league side following the departure of Oscar Kaunda to newly promoted Mitundu Baptist FC.
Makonyola arrives in Karonga with momentum on his side after guiding Mitundu Baptist FC to promotion into the FDH Premiership at the close of the 2026/27 season a feat that has elevated his profile in Malawian football circles.
For Karonga United, finishing sixth in the 2025 TNM Super League and reaching the semi finals of the Airtel Top 8 was respectable but the club believes the next step requires a visionary leader capable of transforming promise into silverware.
Simwaka expressed confidence that Makonyola is the right man for the task, describing him as a coach with proven ability and a clear developmental mindset.
