Malawi interfaith AIDS body gears up to fight against domestic violence

LILONGWE-(MaraviPost)-Malawi interfaith AIDS Association (MIAA) says is geared to end domestic violence across its membership.

On focus agenda including defilement, child marriages, men hiding HIV status and ARVs that perpetuators are church leaders.

The association told media interface in the capital Lilongwe that church leaders that might be involved in any domestic violence will not be spared.

MIAA Executive Director Pilira Ndaferankhande disclosed the grouping has secured a lawyer who will expedite cases for persecution.

Ndaferenkhande further said the association will intensify mobile courts to address domestic violence across its membership.

She therefore lauded the cordial relationship with the media for publicizing its activities hence hosting media interface dinner.

 “We are currently taking a complete different approach by not only waiting for funding hence engagement with the media as critical partner.

“We are now geared up to drag any religious leader that will be involved in domestic violence as a lawyer has been identified to expedite cases. We want to bring sanity across our faithful membership,” assures Ndaferankhande.
