LUSAKA-(MaraviPost)-The Malawi’s Under 20 football team yesterday started its Cosafa Championship tournament on a robust note by defeating Comoros Island 4 -0 in Lusaka Zambia.

It was Patrick Mwaungulu who anchored the victory of the Junior Flames by scoring a hat trick which saw him emerging man of the match at the end of the game.

Commenting at the end of the game, Head Coach for the team, PeterJoJo Mponda, said he was very impressed with the results and style of play his charges displayed.

” Defensively, the Comoros were organised so, it was difficult for us to penetrate. But after some changes we managed to score three goals and it was then that they started to attack more and opened up their defense; giving us another chance for a fourth goal. Overall, it was a good game,” said Mponda

Ever since, the Flames have never won the Cosafa Championship tournament, despite their yearly participation.

The Junior Flames are in Group A with Comoros Island, Botswana and the Host, Zambia.

On Saturday, they will be up against the Junior Zebras of Botswana
