LILONGWE-(MaraviPost)-The Malawi under 21 netball national team assistant Coach Cecilia Bondwe Mtukule says in today’s game the team wants to score more goals against weaker side,Tanzania.
The plan will able to reduce the goal difference on the log table against host South Africa in the ongoing Netball World Youth cup 2025 qualifiers Africa in Pretoria.
The junior queens play Tanzania at Rembrandt Hall,University of Pretoria from 10:00hours before taking on Kenya later in the day from 16:00hours in which Bondwe,tamed as a real test for Malawi.
“Indeed we are playing two games today,the first one against Tanzania and later Kenya.We know Tanzania is not a strong team but still more we need to up our game as we are looking forward to score more goals to reduce the gap on the table.
“Kenya is strong team but we are ready to defeat them as we are here to win the championship and qualify to the world cup”, she said.
“There were so many lessons we learnt in our first game against Namibia, girls didn’t play well in the first quarter and picked up later in the second quarter hence we have rectified this and encouraged the girls to work hard from the first whistle to the last”, Bondwe explains.
South Africa lead the seven teams log table with 6 points from three games played while Malawi are second with two points from one games.
Malawi won their first game against Namibia 48-23.
This morning opponent Tanzania are yet to win any match at the competition and sitting bottom.
Seven teams including South Africa,Zimbabwe, Namibia, Kenya,Tanzania, Malawi and Zambia are competing at Rembrandt Hall, University of Pretoria, South Africa.
The top four will qualify for the 2025 World Cup.
