DEDZA-(MaraviPost)-As part of complementing government’s efforts in the fight against Covid19, Dedza District Covid19 Support Relief, a grouping of people from Dedza has reaffirmed its commitment in containing the pandemic.
Chairperson for the group Washington Kaimvi was speaking on the sidelines of a MK2.5 million donation of assorted Personal Protective Equipment to three CHAM facilities of Kasina, Mua and Mtendere in the district.
Kaimvi said the group decided to make the donation to the facilities after realizing the crucial role they are taking in supporting the fight against Covid19.
“We are here again to make this donation because our commitment is strong. We have reached out to the CHAM facilities because they are working hand in hand with the District Health Office in testing Covid19 in their respective centres,” said Kaimvi.
And now that the vaccination exercise against the pandemic is set to roll out, Kaimvi said their group is ready to assist the district in any gaps that may arise during the exercise.
“Going forward, we want to contsminue supporting the district so that we can participate in other interventions that can come forward including the vaccination exercise,” he added.
Nursing officer for Mua mission facility Modester Dimba described the donation as timely saying CHAM facilities do not get support from the government.
“The greatest challenge that we are facing is lack of supplies pertaining to the Covid19 because we are not fully supported by the government,” said Dimba.
Some of the donated items were face shields, face masks, hand sanitizers, soap, and others.
