PRETORIA-(MaraviPost)-The fast flying Malawi striker Frank Gabadinho Mhango continues to enjoy flamboyant performance in South African Premier Soccer League (PSL) with his new team Orlando Pirates.

On Wednesday, January 15, he led his team to an important victory over Mamelod Sundowns through his only goal that came in 30th minute.

Mhango also made his team proud in their previous encounter when he scored a hat trick sealing another vital win for his side over Polokwane City.

Many people in South Africa are giving the lad great morale through his impressive performance after the guy suffered from poor show for the past months and last season before joining Pirates.

Speaking after the game on Wednesday, Gaba sounded quite thrilled with his current performance.

He said he is very happy that he can now assist his team win matches in their South African Premier Soccer League (PSL).

“This is what every striker expects to do. We need to score goals. It is those goals that make our fans happy and we also feel fulfilling our obligation. I am so happy for the support I have received from all angles especially from home (Malawi), my fellow Malawians have always been encouraging me to work hard.” he said.

Reacting to his current form, one of local sport journalists Frankie Kalilombe said the guy is putting Malawi on the map.

He has also just proven that perseverance in sport is one strong value.

He said, “you remember the boy lost touch last season and even before joining Orlando Pirates Gaba did not have a good performance but he never lost hope but worked, trained, and built himself so hard to return to his current amazing performance.

“Actually, athletes should realise that there are times when you will go down as a player and there are also good moments when you really perform to your best. Let’s take note that it’s not all the time that things will go on well with us; ups and downs are common.”

One of people who follow Absa Premiership and a radio presenter Patwell Phiri feels the guy is getting mature and he really knows what he is doing now and what the future carries for him.

“He has built great confidence and the good thing is the guy is very hard-working. I have also noticed that he makes sure that he is at the right space where he can easily score.”

Many Malawians are really happy with the performance of the Malawi striker; Thomas Muha a sport analyst who says Gabadinho can even play in Europe. He says people want him in Europe and even Pirates supporters are now aware of what he is capable of.

He said, “I feel like the guy is really going through the right track and Pirates is one of big clubs in South Africa. We have had players like Joseph Kamwendo playing at the same great club in the past. It is even an honour to be at that club and play in PSL one of the most well organised and highly ranked leagues in Africa.”

Pirates are now on fifth position on a 16 team table with 27 points from 17 matches, 14 points behind league leaders Kaizer Chiefs who have 41 points from 17 games as well.
