Malawi’s Karonga health Centres operating without water

KARONGA-(MaraviPost)-At least seven public health centres in Karonga District have been operating without water for sometime now; a situation which is staking the lives of patients and health workers.

Karonga District Hospital administrator, Clement Gonthi has admitted that the situation is dire, as K9.6 million they receive as their annual allocation is insufficient to cater for maintenance work in all the health facilities in the district.

Nevertheless, Gonthi said they are doing all they can to keep the situation in check.

However, Chairperson for Wasambo Area Development Committee, Happy Ndovi, was quick to echo out the situation for the well wishers to come in with any sort of assistance.

“We are seeking help from well wishers to come in and help. We have so many health facilities which require assistance in terms of water. So, they can come and help,” said Ndovi.

Among other health facilities which are hit hard by the problem, there are Fulirwa, Iponga and Ngala.
