Mangochi woman Idesi Biswick arrested for hiding granddaughter’s dead body

BLANTYRE-(MaraviPost)-Malawi Police at Monkey Bay in the lakeshore district of Mangochi are keeping in their custody a 49 year old woman identified as Idesi Biswick for allegedly concealing death and preventing the normal burial of her three-year old granddaughter.

Monkey Bay Police Station Public Relations Officer Alice Sichali has confirmed of the news with Maravi Post saying the suspect was staying with a three-year-old grand daughter who had been suffering from Kwashiokor for some time and died on August 29, 2022.

Instead of informing neighbours and the village head of the area about the death, the suspect took the body and hide it along Mkombedzi River in Pakamwa Village.

On September 2, 2022, her neighbours got suspicious after noticing the absence of the child for some days and reported the matter to police who later found the dead body at the said place in a decomposing state.

Idesi Biswick is expected to appear before court soon to answer the charge of murder.

She comes from Kaiya Village, Traditional Authority (T.A) Ganya in Ntcheu District
