New immigration officers urged to serve with patriotism, professionalism

BLANTYRE-(MaraviPost)-Minister of Homeland Security, Ezekiel Ching’oma, has urged 354 newly recruited immigration officers to serve the country with patriotism and professionalism.

The new officers were sworn in at the Police Training School in Limbe, Blantyre on Friday May 30,2025.

Ching’oma emphasized the critical role immigration officers play in realizing the Malawi 2063 Vision, as championed by President Dr. Lazarus Chakwera.

The minister warned that the government will not tolerate any form of indiscipline or unprofessionalism among immigration officers.

He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to revolutionizing immigration services, ensuring seamless delivery to citizens and non-citizens.

On his part,acting Director General of Malawi Immigration and Citizenship Services, Macloyd Kalindang’oma, advised the new officers to strive for excellence in their work.

The ceremony also recognized outstanding performance, with 10 best-performing recruits and 10 longest-serving officers receiving awards.

The new intake comprises 151 females and 203 males.

The 2025 Department of Immigration and Citizenship Services Pass-out parade was held under the theme ‘Raising the Bar of Excellence in Migration Management.’
