Nigeria’s Lagos collapsed building claims eight lives

LAGOS-(MaraviPost)-At least eight people have died after three-storey building collapsed in the Obalende area of Lagos Island, Lagos State.

The Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) General Manager, Olufemi Oke-Osanyintolu confirmed the news on Monday morning.

Punch news reported that the building that was still under construction collapsed on Sunday evening killing at least 4 people (3 males and 1 female) at the scene.

According to LASEMA spokesperson, Nosa Okunbor at least 10 seriously injured and taken to Lagos Island General Hospital, 10 mildly injured and treated at the scene as of Monday morning with eight confirmed fatalities.

The cause of collapse is yet to be ascertained, but efforts are presently ongoing by LASEMA and other responders towards salvaging the situation.
