LILONGWE-(MaraviPost)-Members of Parliament (MPs) from the northern region have condemned President Lazarus Chakwera government for not showing interest to construct Mzuzu Stadium.
Contributing on the matter, Mzimba North MP, Yeremia Chihana, said northers are being sidelined in so many ways.
Chihana said the northerners would call for the federal government to utilize revenues generated from Songwe border and raiply proceeds.
Concurring with Chihana, Mzimba south legislator, Chambulanyina Jere said one district should have a stadium that favouring one district with three stadia such as Blantyre.
Echoing the same, Mzimba South Rumphi North lawmaker Jappie Mhango said Mzuzu residents deserve modern stadium to cover all the northerners.
Rumphi East MP Kamlepo Kalua chipped in arguing that “People from the north are left out, and the current government is behaving in quota system manner”.
Rumphi West legislator Wadada Wiza added that northerners are kept aside regardless of them being of Malawians.
Nkhatabay central lawmaker Vuwa Kaunda chipped in by condemming the government’s delay in the construction of the stadium.
Sports Minister Uchizi Mkandawire is yet to comment onto the concerns.
