Passionate Kavina unveils MK13m trophy sponsorship

LILONGWE-(MaraviPost)-In an effort to compliment government’s efforts of developing football from the grassroots, passionate King Kavina who is also the owner of Champions Stadium in Mponela Dowa, has unveiled a MK13 million Trophy.

About 32 teams from the country’s three regional associations (CRFA,SRFA,NRFA) will battle it out in the MK13 million King Kavina Trophy slated to take place in Dowa, Mponela at Champions Stadium.

The trophy sponsorship has been unveiled on Saturday, April 8, 2023 at Civo Club house by the Kavina family.

The trophy will be played on a knock out basis and is anticipated to kick off on May 7, 2023.

It is expected to complete in September 2023.

The champions will take home MK3.5 million, second placed to walk home with MK2 million while the third and fourth placed will get MK1 million and MK750,000 respectively.

Speaking during the unveiling ceremony King Kavina said, the trophy will play a great role in nurturing the hidden talent that would improve the performance of the Super League and National teams of the land.

He added, after constructing the stadium in Dowa district, his focus now will be organizing the trophies to keep the youths busy at both the district and regional levels.

He said, trophies will also boost business in Dowa as teams would be lodging and plying income generating essential activities within.

In his remarks, CRFA general Secretary Bernard Harawa who represented FAM hailed Kavina family for the sponsorship saying it will help them in learning systems of play from other regions.

Harawa hence vowed to manage and patronize the trophy in a professional manner.

The league will see teams from Premier, Division One and districts sides participate in the trophy.
