Police has disclosed their plan to arrest Rumphi East Member of Parliament (MP) Kamlepo Kaluwa, on allegation that he deceived the nation on his abduction claim.
Kaluwa was found at Kwacha roundabout in Blantyre on Sunday, with legs and hands tied up with blue ropes.
He claimed he was damped by unknown people who had abducted him.
According to Kamlepo, he does not know where he was for almost a week, because he blind-folded.
However, national police spokesperson James Kadadzera, while confirming that they are aware of the development, refuted the allegation that the Rumphi East MP, was abducted.
According to Kadadzera, this is because no member of the Kalua family reported the matter of the missing MP to the police.
He then disclosed that the police are yet to find evidence about the law maker’s abduction claim. Police suspect that the Peoples Party acting Vice President faked his own abduction.
He said the police are continuing with their investigations, and vowed to arrest Kamlepo, if they find sufficient evidence in the matter.
However, spokesperson for the Rumphi East MP John Mapunda, accused the police for being pressured by the ruling Democratic Progressive Party, to arrest Kamlepo in order to doom his political career.
Meanwhile, Kamlepo has been denying interviews with the media, saying he needs to time rest.
