LILONGWE-(MaraviPost)-In twist of event, Malawi government has reversed its decision to allow Prophet Shepherd Bushiri’s  Enlightened Christian Gathering to use Bingu Stadium  for a night of Cross over on December 31, 2020.

Stadium Acting Manager Mwaungulu has cited a huge number of people to attend will contravene Covid-19 prevention measures.

The letter dated December 11, 2020, addressing to ECG Head of Communication and Public Relations, Ephraim Nyondo, the stadium management has reversed the decision after thorough consultation.

“Despite communication that the number to attend be reduced, the event is mostly to attract people beyond even the normal capacity at the stadium. This will contravene the Covid-19 pandemic preventive measures.

“The Stadium will be undergoing maintenance in preparation for CAF inspection which will happen in early January 2021. At the time of CAF inspection, management may not have enough time to restore the  stadium to its normal status due to anticipated damages and losses during your function, its along time to for such damage or losses to be repaired or recovered respectively as seen past experiences,” reads the letter.

ECG Church Communication manager Nyondo has acknowledged receipt of the letter.

“We confirm receipt of the letter from the Bingu National Stadium (BNS) management about the cancellation of hosting our Miracle Night Crossover on 31 December 2020.

“Our church administration is swiftly and, with necessary urgency and speed, acutely handling the matter and, therefore, we appeal for calm to all our members and followers under the circumstances. We shall keep you informed of any developments envisaged thereon,” says Nyondo.
