Malawi TNM Super League rookies Karonga United put a gallant fight on Sunday to hold Mighty Be Forward Wanderers to a goalless draw at Mzuzu Stadium.
The game which was an opportunity for the Lali Lubani Road boys to go up the ladder, saw the Karonga boys displaying entertaining football, much delight to the fans who filled the stadium to capacity.
The Nomads, whose efforts to find a winning formula are yet to yield results, got some chances but their striking force was just too blunt to beat agile goalkeeper Chimwemwe Kasambara. Fresh from a defeat at the hands of Silver Strikers, Karonga showed determination in all departments.
Despite both sides producing sparks in the field of play, the game ended 0-0, a good result for Karonga. Elsewhere, Blue Eagles tasted a first defeat after being whacked 1-2 by Silver Strikers, Azam Tigers beat Mzuni FC 2-0.
