Lilongwe, February 6, 2015: A truck driver for Ninkawa Transport Company during the wee hours of Thursday died on the spot when the truck he was driving overturned after losing control in Lilongwe near Wakawaka entertainment centre.
Confirming the death to Malawi News Agency, Lilongwe Police Publists Kingsley Dandaula identified the deceased as Ibrahim Mkwanda, 32.
“The accident happened during the wee hours of Thursday around Wakawaka entertainment centre. The deceased who was driving a freight liner articulated truck for Ninkawa Transport Company Registration Number MZ 7897 hoarse and MZ 6478 trailer lost control and the truck over tuned.
“As the driver tried to escape, the truck trapped him underneath and died on spot,” Dandaula said.
According to Dandaula, the deceased was also driving with his other nine friends.
He said; “The Truck which carried 600 bags of cement also carried nine other passengers who have only sustained minor injuries and are currently receiving treatment at Kamuzu Central Hospital (KCH).
Mkwanda hailed from Kazala Village, Traditional Authority Mulumbe in Zomba.
