BLANTYRE-(MaraviPos)-Mighty Wanderers secured a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Karonga United in the Airtel Top 8 quarterfinals at Kamuzu Stadium on Saturday.
Blessings Mwalilino’s goal proved the difference, earning him the Man of the Match award.
While pleased with the win, Wanderers’ head coach, Bob Mpinganjira, adopted a measured tone, acknowledging the difficulty of the upcoming return leg.
“We know we face a significant challenge in the return leg,but we are confident in our team’s ability to prepare effectively and advance to the next round,” he said.
Despite the defeat, Karonga United team manager Bernard Mwahimba projected confidence ahead of the second leg.
“We believe we still have a strong chance of reaching the next round,” he asserted, highlighting his team’s commendable performance despite the loss.
The return fixture is scheduled for April 26,2025,at Karonga Stadium, promising a compelling encounter.
