Youths in the north in love with Atupele Muluzi

Youths in the northern region of Malawi said out of all Presidential aspirants and parties shown interest to join 2019 polls’ race, none is playing smart and modern politics that can hook more votes in the region than Atupele Muluzi, President of the United Democratic Front (UDF).

This comes despite Muluzi is yet to hold polical rally in the region.

Youths in Nkhatabay, Rumphi, Karonga, Mzimba districts and Mzuzu the green city of Malawi told Maravi Post in a random interview that the young Muluzi has proved to be a man of himself starting from how he served in government through different ministerial positions under the leadership of Peter Mutharika of the ruling Democratic Progressive Party (DPP).

According to them, his survivals from reshuffle and not named in any corrupt activities in any ministerial positions served openly shows that he can change the face of the country.

Apart from that, the concerned youths said that the young Muluzi has never involved himself in political castigations as many Presidential aspirants and party officials do.

“He is different from other presidential aspirants even his father. He always dwell on issue base campaign. This is kind of a leader we want here as the youths,” said Michael Mkandawire of Rumphi district.

Miriam Kalinga from Karonga said “He has performed well in all ministerial positions assigned by Mutharika. What do you expect if he become the country’s first gentleman? We really want him.”

James Kumwenda of Mzimba while concurring with his colleagues said “What we are waiting is for him to hold rallies in the north and tell us his manifesto. We are tired of sell out and corrupt politicians.”

The youths concurred that UDF brought different development projects in the north during Bakili Muluzi era (father to Atupele Muluzi) such as Karonga- Chiweta M1 road, Mzuzu University among others.

However, Muluzi or any UDF official is yet to issue a comment on the matter especially on when it will hold its mega rally in the region.

Currently, the party is holding its primary elections in the country.

Recently, Muluzi disclosed that the party will go solo in the coming polls disputing rumors that it will join an alliance with DPP.
