LILONGWE-(MaraviPost)-ACCL Central Region Darts League has launched the 2021 season on a higher note with MK2 million sponsorship up from MK1.5 million last year.

During the launch, ACCL Chief Operations Officer Francis Mzengo said development impacts of their previous sponsorship have inspired them to increase sponsorship.

“We have seen quite a big change from the previous season comparing to what we saw last season. Basically if you go back and look at darts in Malawi as central region you will find that the level of sponsorship is not really enough.

“So we as Advantage Capital and Consulting Limited – ACCL would like to confirm our commitment to raising the game, that is why we are increasing sponsorship by 33 percent to motivate teams and players,” explained Mzengo.

Darts Association of Malawi (DAM) President Inglis Nyamilandu told Maravi Post that they are grateful to ACCL as this sponsorship will really motivate darts’ teams and players.

“We are very grateful. One of the things we struggle as a sport is lack of sponsorship. ACCL has been with us for two years. The teams and players will be much motivated because there has been instances where we played seasons without any sponsorship. The players have got passion, they are not playing this sport only because of money but they love the sport. Now, this sponsorship will spice it up” said Nyamilandu.

On his part, ACCL Central Region Darts League chairperson Isaac Nyirongo expressed gratitude to the Malawi National Council of Sports (MNCS) and their sponsor for committing MK2 million for another season.

11 teams have already registered and 50 percent of the teams have women players.
