LILONGWE-(MaraviPost)-Alliance for Democracy leader (AFORD) Enoch Chihana has been caught illegally and fraudulently selling his sister, Tawonga Kayira’s land.
Kayira alleges that Chihana sold the land without her consent.
The development comes as AFORD leader is also in court for fuel fraud case with National Oil Company of Malawi (NOCMA).

Writing on her Facebook page, Taonga claims that Chihana sold the land without the blessing of his sister, who is currently based in Kenya.
“Enoch Chihana, you have no shame as a potential president. You fraudulently sold a plot belonging to your sister Tawonga Chihana who is based in Kenya and who refused that he had authorised you to sell it.
“You refused that we start work on the land and you also refused to refund the money,” said Kayira, who claimed that Chihana received K20 million in December last year,” reads the Facebook post.
But, Chihana argues that the claims are meant to tarnish his political career ahead of the September 16 general elections.
The AFORD leader justified the selling of the land saying proper procedures were followed, including a contractual agreement.
“The agreement was that the buyer would make an initial payment of MK20 million out of the K30 million total price of the land, and upon settling the balance, the land documents would be handed over.
“However, the buyer failed to honor the agreement and went further by posting an advert on social media platforms seeking the services of sheriffs to recover the money,” justifies Chihana.
He however did not elaborate if the contract said he is to pay back the MK20 million if the buyer fails to settle the raining balance.
Chihana is one of the presidential candidates for September 16 polls.
