LILONGWE-(MaraviPost)-Area 30 TNM Super League outfit Blue Eagles Football Club are upbeat of getting a victory in this afternoon’s encounter against Red Lions FC at Nankhaka Stadium.

Assistant coach, Christopher Sibale, says his charges are equally ready to play the soldiers from Zomba who they defeated 1-4 away at Balaka Stadium in the first round of the 2022 TNM Super League.

Captain Schumacher Kuwali, Oswald Maonga and Gaddie Chirwa scored for Eliah Kananji coached side and Royal Kalaba Bokosi scored the consolation goal for the reds.

Blue Eagles FC return to action this afternoon after almost three weeks as some of its players were involved in Flames CHAN qualifiers games against Mozambique in which they were knocked out.

Soon after CHAN qualifiers Blue Eagles FC was exempted from Superleague games as players who are Police Officers were in Tanzania Dar es Salaam, participating in Southern Africa Region Police Chief Cooperation Organization (SARPCCO) games.

However, Sibale says they need to win this afternoon against the soldiers to start their campaign of reclaiming their position 2 which has been taken up by Kamuzu Barracks FC who have played 4 more games than Eagles.

“The break won’t have any impact at SARPCCO the players were playing active football, and those who remained at home were also training, so the match fitness is good. We have to win the match today and I am optimistic we will carry the day”,

“The reaction of players at training for the past week has been promising, and their body language looks ready for the game. today’s victory will have great impact as far as the log table is concerned. We defeated them away I know for sure they will come hard on us”,Sibale said.

Red Lions FC are on position 12 with 25 points from 23 games and they will be looking forward to win the match to increase their tally.

Eagles FC are on position 3 with 40 points from 19 games played so far they have conceded 6 goals and scored 21.

Kamuzu Barracks FC played to a 0-0 draw against MAFCO FC at Champion Stadium in Dowa on Saturday, while Mighty Waka-Waka Tigers FC thrashed relegation bound Rumphi United FC 5-0 at Mpira Stadium with goals from Precious Chiuza a hat trick Frank Chikufenji and Taniel Mhango.

The win for Kau-Kau boys have taken them to 27 points from 25 games on position 10.They have ran away from relegation zone.

Rumphi United FC is still anchoring the table with 10 points from 23 games and their chances of surviving is hanging by a thread.

Other TNM Super League fixture this afternoon, Silver Strikers FC hosts Karonga United FC at the Magnificent Bingu National Stadium.

Sable Farming hosts Rumphi United FC at Mpira Stadium while the Servants, Civil Service United FC will battle it out with Moyale Barracks FC at Champion Stadium in Dowa, Mponela, while another relegation candidate TN Stars FC is playing Ekwendeni Hammers FC at Kasungu Stadium.
