Football fever weekend is back again!!

The stage is set for another thrilling weekend of football action, both in Malawi and across Africa. Locally, the TNM Super League takes centre stage with exciting fixtures lined up.

On Saturday, Mighty Wanderers host Chitipa United at Kamuzu Stadium, Silver Strikers welcome Mighty Tigers at Silver Stadium, while Kamuzu Barracks face Blue Eagles at Champions Stadium. Both games kick off at 14:30.

On Sunday, Mafco FC take on FCB Nyasa Big Bullets at Champions Stadium, Civil Service United battle Mzuzu City Hammers at Civo Stadium, and Moyale FC entertain Karonga United at Rumphi Stadium. All matches are scheduled for 14:30.

The NBS Bank National Division League also promises plenty of action. Saturday’s fixtures see Mchinji Villa take on Red Lions at Mchinji Stadium, while Mitundu Baptist host Nataja United at Civo Stadium.

On Sunday, four matches will light up the league: Ndirande Stars face Jenda United at Mpira Stadium, Namitete Zitha meet Fomo FC in Mchinji, Baka City clash with Bangwe All Stars in Karonga, and Chilumba Barracks take on Chintheche United at Chitipa Stadium.

In the women’s game, the NBM Women’s Premiership continues into its second week with five exciting fixtures.

Saturday morning sees Mighty Wanderers Queens host Ascent Soccer Academy at Kamuzu Stadium, before Kukoma Ntopwa Women square off with Topik Academy at Mpira in the afternoon.

On Sunday, Civil Service Women face MDF Lioness in a morning clash at Civo Stadium, while FCB Nyasa Big Bullets Women host MK Academy at Kamuzu Stadium and Silver Strikers Ladies meet Moyale Sisters at Silver Stadium.

On the continental front, African Cup of Nations qualifiers add more spice to the weekend. Saturday night will see Tanzania lock horns with Burkina Faso.

Sunday promises even more drama, with Kenya hosting DR Congo, Morocco battling Angola, and Madagascar facing Mauritania.

Away from the pitch, the transfer market is buzzing with gossip. Tottenham are in talks with Bayern Munich over a loan move for Portuguese midfielder João Palhinha as they look to bolster their midfield.

RB Leipzig are monitoring Manchester United’s Rasmus Højlund, with reports suggesting the Red Devils could include him in a swap deal for Benjamin Šeško.
