LILONGWE-(MaraviPost)-Former Minister of Information, Moses Kunkuyu, has voluntarily surrendered to authorities at Police Headquarters in Area 30, Lilongwe.

Kunkuyu said he took this step after learning that police were looking for him although the reasons for the summons had not been communicated to him.

National Police spokesperson, Lael Chimtembo, confirmed that Kunkuyu is currently being questioned, but declined to disclose details regarding the matter under investigation.

Earlier, Kunkuyu had stated that he would present himself to the police.

The Malawi Police Service had previously cautioned the public against circulating false information implicating Kunkuyu in murder cases, stating that they had no evidence linking him to the cases.

This followed a voice recording implicating Kunkuyu in the murder of a Coca-Cola Beverages Company employee, Allan Wittika.

The police are yet to disclose the specific reasons for Kunkuyu’s summons.
