BLANTYRE-(MaraviPost)-Goshen City Dedza Dynamos FC have written a new chapter in their history after reaching the final of Castel competition for the first time since gaining promotion to the elite league in 2022.
The Dedza based outfit booked their place in the final following a dramatic semi final victory over Blue Eagles at Kamuzu Stadium, on Saturday where they triumphed 4–3 on penalties after a tense 1–1 draw in regulation time.
Blue Eagles had taken the lead in the 83rd minute through Mecium Mhone, whose well taken goal appeared to have put the Area 30-based team within touching distance of the final.
However, Goshen City had the final say as Gift Magola struck deep into stoppage time in the 95th minute, silencing Blue Eagles celebrations and forcing the match into penalties.
Earlier, Goshen City had missed a golden opportunity to score when Edward Dakalira failed to convert a penalty awarded after Chifuniro Mpinganjira was brought down in the box.
Despite that setback, Goshen City regrouped and carried their fighting spirit into the penalty shootout, where nerves were tested on both sides.
After the first five penalties, both teams had scored three and missed two, keeping the contest finely balanced and setting the stage for sudden death.
Peter Zulu then stepped up and calmly converted the decisive penalty for Goshen City while Chikumbutso Bello Junior failed to score for Blue Eagles, sealing a memorable win for the Dedza outfit.
Goshen City head coach Alex Ngwira praised his players for their determination and composure, describing the achievement as a reward for hard work and discipline throughout the competition.
Ngwira said his side will now shift focus to proper preparation ahead of the final scheduled for 15 February 2026, emphasizing the need to remain grounded and focused.
On the other hand, Blue Eagles coach Deklek Msakakuona accept the defeat with humility, noting that the match provided valuable lessons ahead of the 2026/27 season.
Goshen City Dedza Dynamos will now await the winner of the other semi final two between FCB Nyasa Big Bullets and Mzuzu City Hammers, on Sunday at same venue
