Lilongwe step-father arrested for stabbing son to death

BLANTYRE-(MaraviPost)-Malawi Police at Lingadzi station in Lilongwe are keeping in custody a 58-year-old man identified as Magodisi Ngwira for allegedly stabbing to death his 27-year- old step-son Sebe Maloyi in Lilongwe’s Mtandire Township.

Lingadzi Police Public Relations Officer Sub-Inspector Salome Zgambo confirmed of the news saying on August 20, 2022 Ngwira picked up a quarrel with Sebe’s young brother a development which irritated Sebe who confronted the step- father and slapped him.

Zgzambo said in revenge, the suspect picked a knife which was on the table and stabbed Sebe in the chest.

Sebe collapsed instantly and was pronounced dead upon arrival at Kamuzu Central Hospital.

Post-mortem conducted at the same hospital indicated that death was due to loss of blood.

Sebe’s demise angered community members who mobilised themselves in order to deal with the suspect who fled to unknown destination.

He was later apprehended on August 23, 2022 at Santhe trading centre in Kasungu where he was hiding.

Ngwira who hails from Chinewo Village, Traditional Authority( T.A) Mwahenga in Rumphi will appear before court soon to answer the charge of murder which contravenes section 209 of the Penal Code.
