BLANTYRE-(MaraviPost)-Leader of Opposition in Parliament who is also Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) Vice President for Southern region Kondwani Nankhumwa has asked President Lazarus Chakwera to rise up to the occasion by coming up with an action plan.
Nankhumwa dared Chakwera to quickly address the current power outages that are causing a lot of suffering to Malawians and crippling the private sector.

He observes that Malawians trusted President Chakwera to power with an expectation for a better life.
Nankhumwa challenged Chakwera to stop blaming the mistakes of a past regime but instead work to transform Malawi.
He said the reality on the ground is that Malawians are suffering as far as issues regarding energy in the country are concerned.
“I am looking at small scale businesses that use electricity. We have chicken farmers that have got incubators, we have welders, we have barber shops, we have salons and several others that are failing to make profits because of frequent blackouts,” he said.
His call comes barely a few days after President Chakwera tasked the Minister of Energy Ibrahim Matola to probe the frequent blackouts, with the joint parliamentary committee doing the same.
The country has a seen frequent power outages for a number of weeks now, a situation Malawians say is dragging behind the country’s social-economic development.
