LILONGWE-(MaravoPost)—Two more cases of Covid-19 have been confirmed in the laboratories at College of Medicine in Blantyre and National Heath Reference Lab in Lilongwe.

Minister of Health and Population, Jappie Mhango disclosed this on Wednesday, May 6, 2020.

According to Mhango, one patient is a truck driver from Lilongwe’s Area 23, who returned from Beira, Mozambique on Saturday, 2 May 2020 and went to Likuni hospital on Monday, 4 May with mild symptoms.

The second patient is a 38-year-old male from Bvumbwe, Thyolo who recently travelled to Tanzania and has currently been put under home isolation with no symptoms.

Mhango added that healthcare workers are tracing all the contacts of the two cases so that they can also be followed up and tested.

Malawi has now registered a total of 43 confirmed COVID-19 cases since the first case was reported with 3 recorded deaths, 9 recovered and 31 still under management by the health system
