LILONGWE-(MaraviPost)-As youth in the country continue to cry for employment, the Malawi Congress Party (MCP) has called upon the party youths to utilize the use of NEEF and AGRICOM to empower themselves.
Addressing the gathering in Lilongwe City South West Constituency at Sese ground on Sunda, October 29, 2023, MCP Director of Youth, Richard Chimwendo Banda said the country’s youths need to be independent to avoid being used during campaign period.
Chimwendo said government understand that NEEF funding is not reaching everyone, but government will continue to fund it so that it reach out to many people.
Banda however said some Members of Parliament (MPs) for the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) have shown interest in joining the party only that they are afraid of crossing the flow contrally to section 65.
On her part, the MP for the constituency who is also a Minister of Foreign affairs , Nancy Tembo said the area needs developments including a health center, secondary school, and electricity connections.
Tembo said alot of youth have ideas of opening barbershops and other things that needs electricity and bringing the electricity in the area will empower them.
She said with the help of Community Development fund she has managed to built 4 concrete bridges in her area.
MCP, Secretary General, Mkaka who was also the guest of honour at the event, said the party is happy that it has maintained peace which is attracting members from other parties.
Mkaka said their party encourages all those that are in big positions not to take sides in distributing developments.
“Our party has been in a situation where DPP is today but we are happy that we came together and resolve our differences that’s why other parties are admiring us,” said Mkaka.
MCP is the main partner in President Lazarus Chakwera’s Tonse Alliance government.
