HARARE-(MaraviPost)-President Lazarus Chakwera on Friday, August 16, 2024 took time off his tight schedule to meet Malawian nationals domiciled in Zimbabwe.

There are an estimated six million Malawians living in Zimbabwe at the moment.

Addressing the nationals, Chakwera said he has in place a clear development agenda for Malawi, guided by the overarching Malawi Vision 2063.

He told the gathering that he is currently transforming Malawi, irrespective of geography, tribes, religious and political affiliation, among others.

President Chakwera emphasized that he now has in place, a guiding development strategy, in the form of the Agriculture, Tourism and Mining strategy.

According to Chakwera, each of the three sectors was strategically identified and chosen to help in speeding up economic recovery and growing the economy, subsequently.

“God has given us grace, and we are wallowing in such grace everyday…back home,I am championing the construction of dams, roads, and all sorts of infrastructure, you name them. I am also making sure that every Malawian has access to clean water.

“We also have gone full-throttle in large scale farming and mechanisation through the establishment of mega farms. Come to Malawi and I can assure you that the country is not the same as you left it,” he said.

President Chakwera also said he is making sure that each and every district in Malawi has an equal share of the national development cake, citing the raising of Constituency Development Fund (CDF) from MK100 million to MK200 million in February, 2024.

During the meeting, the Malawi nationals in diaspora thanked the President for sparing time to meet them but requested the President to help address their challenges including inability for them to cast their votes during elections.
