Mutharika’s administration has shown capacity to crack things round

It will soon be a year since the Arthur Peter Mutharika’s administration took the mantle of leadership after emerging winners, in the May 20th, 2014 first ever tripartite elections.

As a nation, it is a wish of every citizen to see the state president delivering according to our expectations. However; it worries the populace when the government executes its duties contrary to their prospects, this is the major factor that’s leads to people’s loss of trust to the government and it is the duty of the government to prove to the prospect voters that they are there to help them meet their needs.

When the DPP came into power, things were not as they are today. The economic status of this nation was at stake and the reputation of our country with the major donors was that bad.
Without fear of contradiction, I must say; It has not been that easy for the Mutharika administration to gain back the donors confidence and it must be noted that the government has tried its best to make sure that business has not come to a standstill, when Mutharika was taking over; this country’s economic status was in shambles since Malawi was a nation which had lost its major donors due to the cash gate scandal.

Nevertheless, we have seen the commitments of the government being fulfilled one after the other though it has not been that easy for Mutharika.

The efforts of the government to turn things round have not gone without bottlenecks; it will be very unfair to judge Mutharika’s administration without putting to consideration the challenges that have married his administration.

At a time that Malawi government was trying hard to put economic reforms in order and putting to rest some of the challenges this nation was going through on social services and development, the state was hit by floods which almost affected thousands of families, business activities and lives as well as property were lost.

The government within its limited resources tried to put the situation under control and it further appealed to well-wishers to come in and assist our friends, this is a move which had a positive reception and had helped to ease the challenges that our friends were going through at a time that government was also affected economically.

Truth must be told that as the country is still striving to Excellency, some resources which could have been used for other development projects were pumped in towards disaster management, the government has the responsibility to take care of its people and that is what the Mutharika regime exactly did in times of floods and the recent attacks which our friends in South Africa have endured.

This in one way or the other also affected the government but still so far, progress has been made as the both the flood and xenophobia victims have been assisted accordingly.
Looking at the way things are today with a sober mind, those who are fair and honest enough would be able to recognize the positive progress that the current regime has made.

Challenges have always been there and the government cannot fully meet everyone’s needs but still, the Mutharika’s Administration Has Shown Capacity to Crack Things Round. The prices of goods and services have not been fractuating, our currency has been that stable and gaining the strength against the major currencies, the commitments that the government made are being fulfilled and at the same time, the donor community has shown interest again.
