MCP women play pivotal role in party politics

BLANTYRE-(MaraviPost)-Scores of Malawi Congress Party (MCP) women leaders drawn from 9 constituencies of Blantyre have acquired new leadership skills from the daylong special drilling organised by the party’s directorates of Women and Social Welfare led by National Deputy Director of Women Florence Kanyono and National Deputy Director of Social Welfare, Lawrence Malemia.

Through motivational speeches and free styled interraction, the message of love, unity and hardwork emanating from the mouths of the leaders found its way into docile ears of grassroot leaders imbued to strengthen the party.

In essence, Kanyoni and Malemia took turns in advising the party grassroot women leaders to stamp out the syndrome of pull her down that is common among women in politics together with its undesirable rotten fruits of backbiting, gossip and hatred.

“The party will stand and move strong only if you women who play a key role have replaced hate with love because when you love each other you will remain strong and united and when united, the enemy will find it difficult to devide you,” said Florence Kanyoni in her speech.

“Once you have achieved unity, the spirit of hard work will be such an easy thing to advance, and you will find yourselves proving right the efficacy of the “Chakwera Super Hi-5”, said Lawrence Malemia.

“The key role that women play in society, like in their families, church and at funerals, becomes the same when it comes to politics hence the need for them (women) to be exemplary,” added Malemia.

The special interaction had also prompted leaders to urge the women to own the party so that the fruits of ownership should help in increasing more members for the growth in numbers of the party through the coming in of new members.
