Lilongwe, MaraviPost: Malawi Congress Party (MCP) Secretary General, Richard Chimwendo Banda, has issued a strong call to action to party supporters, urging them to distance themselves from independent candidates who are falsely associating themselves with the MCP after losing in internal party primaries.
Speaking on Sunday, March 18, at a rally held at Likuni Boys Secondary School Ground in Lilongwe.
Chimwendo emphasized the importance of party unity as Malawi heads toward the next general elections.
He warned that individuals who failed to secure the MCP ticket but are now running as independents in the name of the party should not be entertained.
“We have one party, one vision, and one leader President Lazarus Chakwera,those who failed in the primaries should not confuse voters by using the MCP name,” said Chimwendo.
reinforcing the party’s stance against political opportunism.
Echoing Chimwendo’s message, MCP Regional Secretary Zebron Chilondola called for peace and unity among party members during this crucial pre-election period.
He reminded supporters that internal cohesion will be key to securing a strong performance in the upcoming polls.
