LILONGWE(MaraviPost)-Amidst scarcity of fuel, forex and Diesel, Consumer Association of Malawi (CAMA) has condemned President Lazarus Chakwera’s Tonse Alliance regime for unreasonable devaluation of Kwacha which has put the lives of Malawians at stake.
In a statement, CAMA, Executive Director, John Kapito said Chakwera at the time of devaluation of Kwacha assured Malawians that the minister of finance was in Washington meeting international monetary fund (IMF) and economy would be back to normal.
Kapito said it is sad that with the devaluation now things are worse than before after IMF support program failed and government had no alternative economic plans to ensure that the economy keeps running.
He said closure of the both SMEs and other industries has created mass refreshments in an economy that has highest employment already.
Kapito observes that everything has come up of the stand still as their is no fuel forex and limited foods availability on the market.
He said despite the president and the minister bn of finance ban lakeshore meetings they are busy attending traditional dances and church gathering using tax payers money.
Kapito has therefore dared Chakwera to turn up the economy as it is his duty by assembling right minds that will come up with the lasting solutions to this current poor state of economy.
However Chakwera on Wednesday assured the nation that fuel and forex scarcity were short-lived headache.
